Email For Business Frequently Asked Questions

Where are your servers located?

We use several data centers throughout the U.S. They are primarily in the Midwest to provide optimal performance for users on both coasts.

If I host email with you can I leave my website where it is?

Yes, many customers find that working with a vendor who specializes in email provides more value than bundling both email and web sites with a generic host. We are happy to manage the DNS records for our clients and point their A record for their website elsewhere while maintaining the MX records necessary for email.

What about hosting DNS?

We'd be glad to host your DNS. One advantage of having TOAST.net manage DNS records is that it allows us to configure anti-spam and anti-spoofing technologies like SPF and DKIM.

Do you offer mobile email services?

Yes, mobility is critical in today's business environment. We use Microsoft's Exchange ActiveSync technology to sync mail, contacts, calendars, reminders, and notes with your mobile devices (Android and Apple's iOS).

Can I use Outlook to view my email?

Sure, our email services are fully compatible with Outlook through the use of IMAP and ActiveSync.

But many clients find that our webmail coupled with our customer Business Home Page provide additional value above and beyond Outlook. It's easier to install and support, so we encourage you to explore this option.

What is the mailbox storage limit?

By default each mailbox is set to 10GB. However, our Business Email allows administrators to reallocate disk space between users allowing power users to take advantage of unused space.

Is an annual contract required?

No, but email is a complex business function critical to the operation of any business. As such, we may offer discounts or incentives (low-cost migration) for customers who sign a 1 year agreement.

Will I lose email switching to your service?

Email migration is what separates TOAST.net from other hosting companies. Our experience in migrating email over the last 20 years provides assurances that your data will be safely moved to our platform.

Can I control spam filtering settings?

Sure, but we don't recommend it. Our default spam settings are finely tuned to reject and/or filter most spam to a Junk mail folder. Also, users can mark messages as spam so the system learns.

Is there a limit to the number of messages I can send?

Yes. We enforce some sending limits and best practices to keep our mail servers off blacklists. For clients needing to send regular newsletters or high-volume email, see our Email Marketing offering.

Is there a message size limit?

You are allowed to send a message up to 25MB which is the highest most other mail systems accept. Also, there's a built-in File Storage feature where you can share attachments via links to send extra large attachments.
